Support for Mine Action

In 2014, the Kingdom of Spain contributed €827,626 (US$1,100,494)[1] in mine action funding; a 31% decrease from 2013.

Spain’s largest contribution in 2014 went to Colombia (€742,500/$987,302) through the Spanish Red Cross. Other contributions went to the Convention on Cluster Munitions Implementation Support Unit and to specialized trainings, benefiting experts from Colombia, Ecuador, and Honduras through its International Demining Center (Centro Internacional de Desminado).

Spain’s reduction in mine action support is a direct result of government-wide austerity measures. Since 2010, Spain’s contributions have dropped by more than €3 million ($4.3 million).
