Norway
Support for Mine Action
In 2016, the Kingdom of Norway contributed approximately NOK266 million (US$31.7 million) in mine action funding to 21 affected states (including 16 States Parties and five states not party), one other area, and several NGOs and institutions for global activities.[1] This represented the fifth largest contribution in 2016, after the United States (US), the European Union, Japan, and Germany.
The largest contributions went to Colombia (NOK44.9 million/$5.3 million) for clearance, risk education, and victim assistance activities.
Norway allocated 89% of its mine action support in 2016—or $28.1 million—for clearance and risk education activities in 22 affected states and other areas. Norway contributed $2 million to victim assistance in five countries; this represents about 6% of its support.
About 10% of Norway’s total contribution went to NGOs and institutions for activities not allocated to a specific country or region.
