The Republic of Ghana signed the Mine Ban Treaty on 4 December 1997 and ratified it on 30 June 2000, becoming a State Party on 1 December 2000. Ghana has never used, produced, imported, exported, or stockpiled antipersonnel mines, including for training purposes. Ghana has not enacted new legislation specifically to implement the Mine Ban Treaty. Ghana submitted its initial Mine Ban Treaty Article 7 report on 24 July 2002, but has not submitted subsequent annual reports.

Ghana attended the Tenth Meeting of States Parties in Geneva in November–December 2010 and the Mine Ban Treaty intersessional Standing Committee meetings in June 2011.

Ghana is not party to the Convention on Conventional Weapons.
