Why: The 2019 Landmine Monitor edition, provides a 20 year global overview of efforts to universalize and fully implement the 1997 Mine Ban Treaty, and more generally assess the international community’s response to the global landmine and explosive remnants of war problem. It covers developments in the areas of antipersonnel landmine use, production, stockpiling, mine action, casualties, victim assistance, and mine action funding. The report includes calendar year 2018 reporting, with information included up to November 2019 when possible.
Note to the press: At the press conference, which will be held in English, some of the world's leading experts on antipersonnel mines will be on hand to answer questions from the media. The report - only - in English, will be available on request and under embargo before the launch of the report, while its general conclusions will be available in English, French, Spanish and Arabic. Country data will also be available on the Internet.
