Denmark
Support for Mine Action
In 2019, the Kingdom of Denmark contributed DKK117.6million (US$17.6 million)[1] in mine action funding to 10 states and global activities. This represented a decrease of nearly $7 million from 2018 (or 25% less).
The largest contribution went to Iraq, receiving more than $10 million and representing more than half (58%) of Denmark’s total contribution for the year.
In June 2020, in an email to the Monitor, it was noted that a proportion of the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) contribution in Iraq was diverted to address issues related to COVID-19. The pandemic also caused delays in the disbursement of mine action funding in 2020, in particular for activities in Iraq and Syria.[2]
