Support for Mine Action
In 2019, the Kingdom of Sweden allocated some SEK83.5 million (US$8.8 million)[1] in mine action funding to 13 countries and global activities. Compared to 2018, Sweden’s funding decreased.
The largest contribution went to the Danish Demining Group (DDG) and Mines Advisory Group (MAG), who collectively received SEK72.5 million/$7.6 million for mine action activities in Afghanistan, Angola, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Colombia, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Syria, Ukraine, Yemen, and Zimbabwe. This represented 86% of Sweden’s total contribution in 2019.
In February 2018, Sweden announced a new SEK320 million (nearly $40 million) contribution to support mine action activities implemented by the DDG and MAG in up to 15 countries over three years.[2]
