Support for Mine Action

In 2020, Canada contributed C$11.3 million (US$8.4 million)[1] to mine action projects in five countries as well as global activities. Canada’s mine action funding level in 2020 is similar to the previous year.

As in 2019, the majority of its contribution went to Iraq and Colombia, receiving more than US$2 million each and representing 62% of Canada’s total funding.

Five-year support to mine action

From 2016–2020, Canada’s support to mine action totaled more than C$68 million (US$52.6 million), with an average yearly contribution of C$13.6 million (US$10.5 million). In comparison, Canada provided C$54 million (US$50.2 million) during the previous five-year period from 2011–2015. This represents a 25% increase when expressed in national currency, although after conversion into US dollars this represents a 5% increase.
