Cluster Munition Ban Policy

Cluster munition remnants

There is a small residual threat from cluster munition remnants on the Falklands Islands/Malvinas as a result of use of BL755 cluster bombs by the United Kingdom (UK) against Argentine positions during the 1982 armed conflict. Clearance operations by the UK in 2009–2010 across four areas encountered and destroyed two unexploded submunitions.[1]
