Casualties in 2017—details

Monitor data for the Islamic Republic of Iran for 2017 was compiled from media scanning and other sources, including the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD)- Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) antivehicle mine database. As in in past years, it may not capture the full extent of casualties occurring during the year.

The Monitor identified a total of 9,925 casualties (2,823 killed; 7,095 injured; five unknown) from landmines and ERW in Iran between 1988 and 2017, based on updates to casualty information for previous years. As of 2006, the United Nations (UN) had reported that there had been approximately 10,000 casualties in Iran.[2]
