Support for Mine Action

In 2011, Canada contributed C$16,873,468 (US$17,066,316)[1] in mine action funding, a decrease of 57% in equivalent US dollar terms from that of 2010. Almost half of Canada’s 2011 contribution went towards clearance activities in Afghanistan and Cambodia.

Canada was one of the largest donors to Libya, South Sudan, and Tajikistan in 2011, with a contribution of C$2.2 million (US$2,225,144) to Libya, C$2.95 million (US$2,983,215) to South Sudan, and C$966,908 (US$977,959) to Tajikistan.

Canada’s 2011 decrease of 57% in funding compared to that in 2010 is the largest decrease among donors who contributed more than US$10 million in 2011. In 2009–2011, Canada’s annual contributions have fluctuated by more than 50% each year.
