What:    Landmine Monitor 2023 Report Launch - Press Briefing

Why:      As States Parties to the Mine Ban Treaty get ready for the Twenty-First Meeting of States Parties, taking place from 20 to 24 November in Geneva, Switzerland, a new global report by civil society highlights the use of and casualties caused by these banned weapons. The report also examines the extent to which countries adhere to the norm against landmines, clear land, provide risk education, and assist the victims of these indiscriminate weapons, as well as documenting international and national resources available to carry out such activities.
 
The Landmine and Cluster Munition Monitor, which focuses on calendar year 2022 with information included into October 2023 where possible, uses the 1997 Mine Ban Treaty as its principal frame of reference.

Press note: At the press conference, which will be held in English, some of the world's leading experts on anti-personnel mines will be on hand to answer questions from the media. The report—available only in English—can be requested under embargo as of 11 November, along with the main findings in Arabic, English, French, and Spanish. Additional country-specific findings will be available online.
