Katrin Atkins

Senior Researcher (land release expert)

Katrin Atkins joined the Monitor as a research specialist in May 2023 to focus on impact country profiles and annual report update.

She has 15 years of experience in marketing and communication and worked for 10 years as explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) technician and diver, technical advisor, as well as operations, quality, and monitoring & evaluation officer in military and humanitarian mine action projects predominantly in South East Asia and Africa. Since 2017, she has been working in the mine action sector as independent consultant spezialising on land release, residual contamination management, risk management, quality management and standards.

Katrin holds a B.A. in Graphic Design from the School of Design in Berne, Switzerland; a B.A. in Service Marketing & Management from the University of Applied Sciences and Art, Lucerne, Switzerland; and an MSc in Risk, Crisis and Disaster Management from the University of Leicester, United Kingdom.
