Support for Mine Action
In 2016, Canada contributed C$17,550,628 (US$13,252,758)[1] to mine action projects in five countries.
The majority of its contribution went to Afghanistan—representing 46% of Canada’s total funding—while Iraq and Colombia also received substantial funds.
In March 2017, Canada pledged new funding to support risk education, clearance, and capacity-building activities in Ukraine (C$3.9 million/US$2.9 million), as well as clearance operations in Iraq (C$2 million/US$1.5 million) and Sri Lanka (C$1.9 million/US$1.4 million).[2]

From 2012–2016, Canada’s support to mine action totaled C$54.7 million (US$46.4 million), with an average contribution of C$11million (US$9 million). This is well below the C$164.5 million (US$155 million) provided by Canada during the previous five-year period from 2007–2011.[4]
