Support for Mine Action

Last updated: 15 October 2017

In 2016, New Zealand contributed NZ$17.9 million (US$12.5 million) in mine action funding, this represents an increase of NZ$13.5 million (US$8.2 million) compared to 2015.[1]

This increase is largely a result of New Zealand’s new contribution of more than NZ$10 million (some US$7 million) through the UN Development Programme (UNDP) to support unexploded ordinance (UXO) clearance and survey efforts in Lao PDR from 2016–2020.

New Zealand also allocated a large part of its contribution—NZ$6,000,000 (US$4.2 million) or 33% of its total contribution in 2016—to victim assistance activities.
