Support for Mine Action
In 2022, France contributed €10.3 million (US$10.9 million) in mine action funding to nine countries. In United States (US) dollars, this represented a 13% increase on the US$9.6 million contributed in 2021.[1]
France’s largest contribution went to Iraq for clearance. Ukraine was the second largest recipient, with support provided for capacity-building, risk education, and victim assistance. France was the only international donor to Mauritania in 2022, with funds provided to a French non-governmental organization (NGO), HAMAP-Humanitaire. Support for capacity-building was provided to national partners in Ukraine and Azerbaijan: the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU) and the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA).
In addition to financial support, France provided in-kind training and advisory assistance in Cambodia and Lebanon. France continued to support the West African Humanitarian Mine Action Training Center (Centre de perfectionnement aux actions post conflictuelles de déminage et de dépollution, CPADD) based in Benin.[2]
