Last Updated: 15 September 2011

Support for Mine Action

In 2010 New Zealand contributed NZ$4,640,000 (US$3,348,224) in mine action funding for victim assistance, clearance, and advocacy.[1] The largest contribution (53% of its total contribution) went to the ICRC (NZ$2,500,000/$1,804,000) largely for victim assistance activities.

New Zealand provided monetary support through two trust funds—the Cluster Munitions Trust Fund for Lao PDR and the UN Voluntary Trust Fund for Assistance in Mine Action (UNVTF)[2]—and two organizations.

In addition, New Zealand provided in kind support. New Zealand provided one military liaison officer from the International Security Assistance Force to the Mine Action Coordination Center of Afghanistan (MACCA) and one military staff officer to the UN Mine Action Service (UNMAS).
